Yesterday we were so lucky to have Matt Goodfellow, a Poet, visit our School. First we all took part in a KS1 assembly, where we recited poems together with actions with Matt. It was so much fun. The children loved it. It was great to see their excitement and enthusiasm shining through. Matt then came to work within Year 2 for a session with each class. This gave the children the opportunities to realise they could be a poet too. Matt talked about how patterns on a page make poetry and about different rules when writing poetry before going on to helping the children to each write their own poems. The children's poems were entitled "Things I like". Looking around the classroom, the children were all buzzing to write their poems and impress us all. Some of their ideas were amazing. Some of them even performed them to Matt. We had a fab morning. Matts poetry book is available on Amazon and is highly recommended. Comments are closed.
