Meet the Team: 3DW - Miss Williams, Mrs Hibberd and Mrs Allen 3HW - Mrs Walker, Mrs Booth and Mrs Stanley
It’s a very exciting time when we join Year 3 – our first class in Key Stage Two!
Throughout Year 3, we will be going on some fantastic learning journeys with our immersive curriculum that is sure to get the children (and teachers) excited!
Autumn Term In Autumn 1, we kick off our learning by travelling back to the Stone Age in our history lessons to study what Stone Age people did for us and how they lived. We locate European countries and how they have changed over time in geography. In Science, we explore light and dark and have lots of fun questioning how we see things and how shadows are formed! We then move onto forces and magnets in Autumn 2. Our highlight of the Autumn term is visiting Creswell Crags where we see some real life cave paintings dating back to the Stone Age!
Spring Term
In Spring, we continue looking at changes in British history by moving onto studying the Bronze Age and then the Iron Age. We look at how their inventions and 'technology' changes over time. Our science focus this term is animals including humans. We learn about skeletons and muscles as well as nutrition.
In Spring 2, our whole school topic becomes Ever Changing World and we begin our new topic: Boom! A fascinating explore of the world’s most violent volcanoes! We even have a go at making our own erupting volcano too!
Summer Term
In the Summer term, we travel back to the Ancient Mayan period to look at how chocolate was invented and where it came from. We create some wonderful Maya inspired weaving in our art lessons and visit the best place ever, York's Chocolate Story! Yum! Stories We Love to Read in Year 3
