As a school, we have and are consistently, working hard to ensure that our school is a safe environment to which your child can be within during these current times. In order to effectively manage the risks that remain, things are different within school and will remain this way for the foreseeable future whilst we find ourselves faced with such challenges to allow us to enable your child to remain safe in school.
Classroom Bubbles As set out in government guidance, all pupils will stay in their class groups and will remain in these groups throughout the school day to enable us to keep social distancing wherever possible.
In foundation years groupings will be as above however it will be difficult to maintain social distancing with children so young. This has been taken into consideration and government advice will be followed to ensure that the children, wherever possible, do not have contact with anyone outside their group.
Additional clothing layers
The guidance from Government and the scientists states that all rooms are to be ventilated, which means in school windows will remain open. Therefore, as we now enter the colder weather, we are advising that pupils be ‘layered up’. They will be expected to wear school uniform but have permission to wear thermals, base layers under their t-shirts and bring additional jumpers if necessary to keep themselves warm. Obviously, if pupils are still cold, we will monitor the ventilation but windows will have to be open in some capacity for safety.
Pick up/collection
In order to keep the adults on site safe during drop off and pick up, we are supporting the guidance that all adults on site wear facemasks.
The government guidance states in Staying safe outside the home (Social Distancing). You should minimise time spent outside your home and when around other people ensure that you are two metres apart from anyone not in your household or support bubble. Remember - ‘Hands. Face. Space’ • hands – wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds • face – wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet • space – stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors).
Please can we ask that whilst on school site you are now maintaining your distance and only walking with people in your household bubble - this will ensure we are following the guidance. This means that when waiting to drop off or collect, all are keeping the 2 metre distance. Don’t worry, the staff around school will support you with this, with polite reminders if necessary. As always, we appreciate your support, patience and kindness during these challenging and exceptionally uncertain times. We need to work together and continue to support the guidance and follow the rules for the safety of all.
