At High View we love music! We believe music is a powerful form of communication that can change the way children feel and think. It enables expression, reflection and emotional development.
We enjoy providing a range of musical experiences for our children. We link music into the curriculum and make music lessons and extra-curricular activities as exciting and engaging as possible.
Our children enjoy engaging in musical games, singing, playing instruments, exploring sounds, inventing and composing. We enable our children to become confident musicians by using dance, games, singing, movement and stories, along with providing regular access to a variety of types of music and instruments.
In Key stage 2 children are offered the opportunity to be involved in Young Voices. Children practice after school and perform in an exciting concert at Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena alongside other children from across South Yorkshire. In Year 4, children receive an hour’s music tuition (drums) for the whole year. They then perform in a concert in Elsecar at the end of the year.
Some children in KS2 also receive extra tuition for musical instruments of their own choice.
