History Curriculum within High View
Our History Curriculum Leader is - Ms N Horne
At High View we immerse children into history topics to allow them to explore and understand the past and how history impacts on the present day. We want to enthuse children to develop a passion for history and give them the skills and knowledge to become historians! We believe that all children should leave us with a wealth of understanding about how our community, country and world has been shaped over time to help them shape their own future choices.
In Foundation Stage and Key Stage One, we develop an understanding of time. We look at our own timelines and what is part of it. We also look at famous historical figures to develop an understanding of why we remember certain people and how their actions can change the world.
In Key Stage Two, we continue to develop our chronological understanding by learning about the history of Britain in order. We also learn about other civilisations and look at where they fit in our timelines and the legacies they left the world.
At the end of their journey, our children have a good understanding of historical events and facts and can discuss the impact they had and continue to have on the present day
it.
