We operate a cafeteria system at lunchtime. Children can choose either a hot meal, a grab-a-bag (sandwiches, drink and a snack), jacket potato and filling, or cold salad selection. A pudding is also provided. A new menu is published each term and they feature a three week rolling programme.
High View has achieved the Silver Healthy Schools status, and as part of this has developed a ‘Whole School Food Policy’ which is available to look at upon request.
The school provides storage facilities for lunchboxes but cannot take legal responsibility for foods prepared at home and then brought into school; the school encourages the use of ice packs. In addition, the school requests that parents do not include the following items in packed lunchboxes:
Nuts of any description due to allergies
Sweets and chocolate eg: Mars Bars (chocolate covered biscuits, although not encouraged, are acceptable)
Fizzy drinks (diluted juices and fresh fruit juice is acceptable)
Parents who have difficulty following these guidelines are requested to contact the school. Additional support and guidance will be provided by the school nurse.
