On Thursday we had our drama session with the 'Funky Fairy'. It is amazing how big the classroom is when we take the furniture out! The children looked after the reindeer, polished their hooves and antlers, travelled through a snow storm and created their own travelling machines on their adventure with Eddie the Elf.
During December, Y6 (with lots of help from the rest of High View too) have been doing a "reverse advent calendar". Instead of taking from a calendar, they have been giving! Many have brought in generous donations for the food bank. This will enable lots of less fortunate families to have an easier and happier Christmas.
Today, Y6 walked down to the food bank with our donations. The children loaded up their backpacks before we went. There was enough to fill the rucksacks of all the children and staff, plus Mrs Hunt's car boot! We were welcomed with open arms and filled over 15 crates with pasta, cans of food, tea, sugar etc. We really could not be more proud of our children and their families for the immense generosity. The children have learnt so much about helping others through this project. Enjoy the photos below from this morning! The children in FS2 were very keen to help with our party. In the morning they finished making their chocolate Christmas trees and also made their own sandwich. They thought the taste was extra special because they made it themselves! Here are a few photos showing what a good time we had.
Year 5 and 6 walked down to Saint Mary's church this morning for their annual Christmas service. They sang their hearts out and the readers from both year groups did a wonderful job of retelling the Christmas story. We then had a short talk from Reverand Jane before walking back up the hill to school. Underneath the pictures, you can download the audio files that we recorded at the church of the beautiful singing.
The children enjoyed dressing up in their festive clothes on Christmas dinner day. Here are a few photos we took to show you.
