During maths week, I had the joy of taking a fabulous group of Y5 mathematicians to Hoyland Springwood Primary School for a gaming tournament run by Imagination Gaming. During the morning, the children were introduced to four different board and card games, each with a maths element. In the afternoon, they then competed against the other schools (Springwood and Park Street), scoring for each of the games they played. It was a great opportunity for the children to mix with others, to learn how much fun board and card games can be (who needs a games console?) and to apply their mathematical skills in a different context. Everybody (children and adults alike) had a thoroughly enjoyable day! Plus, not only were our team victorious, but one of our boys was the individual winner!
A big thank you to Hoyland Springwood for organising the day, to Imagination Gaming for running it, and to the wonderful Y5s for throwing themselves into it so well! 14/11/2017 06:35:48 am
From such activities kids are always able to know more about many new things that are important for them. They have been able to explore many new things from such activates. Comments are closed.
