Who would have thought a trip to Tesco would be so exciting? The children were so looking forward to going and thoroughly enjoyed the session.
Firstly we settled into a classroom and each child was given a piece of dough to sculpt into their very own creation. We had ladybirds, snails, plaits, old men with walking sticks, the list was endless! The dough was then taken to the bakery where it was baked ready for to take back to school. We then completed some activities on the shop floor. We made a tally chart to show the different coloured fruit and vegetables that we found, we met the fishmonger and talked about different types of fish and also listened whilst the baker told us about baking bread and pancakes. The children were very attentive, we were so proud of them The staff only areas of the supermarket were very interesting. This included the warehouse, freezer, loading bay and staff room. The children explored these areas with great interest. Before leaving we then did some taste tests of different fruit and cheeses. Then we collected our loaves. The aroma of freshly baked bread was beautiful on the way home!
