This week we have been learning about emergency situations at the coast and how to keep ourselves safe when we go to the seaside. Mrs Cameron is part of the education team and told us lots of important information about what the flags on the beaches mean and how to avoid dangerous situations.

This week we have continued to think about emergency services and have focussed on mountain rescue. We were very lucky to have some visitors from Mountain Rescue to talk to us about what they do. They are based at Glossop and cover the Barnsley area. Tony showed us what was in the rucksack that the rescuers carry. We were surprised that there was so much equipment in it. It was very very heavy!
On the day that the Tour de Yorkshire came through Barnsley we all wore sporty clothes. We made the most of our day and did lots of exercise. Here are some of our Freddy Fit photos.
As part of our emergency services topic we arranged a visit from the local police. PC Malc and PC Tony talked to us about their job, uniforms and equipment. The children were so enthusiastic, we could have kept them here all day asking questions!
