We have been learning about different celebrations. This week it was birthday week! Billy and Bethany, our class bears, had their birthday party. The preparations for the party kept us very busy. We made party invitations and birthday cards. The children decided jelly was very important, so we made 5 different flavours of jelly. We read the instructions together and watched as the cubes turned from solid to liquid, then put it in the fridge to make it solid again. The party day was so much fun!

The children were so excited about the prospect of Halloween, telling us daily about the costumes they had bought or made and how they intended to celebrate. We thought we should make the most of their enthusiasm and bought some different types of pumpkins for the children to look at. They were amazed at the different sizes of pumpkin available, and surprisingly most of the children actually preferred the tiniest one! We then cut open the pumpkins and let the children investigate what was inside. There were some very interesting words that came from our investigation. These are just a few of them - smelly, squishy, mushy, gooey, slimy, slippery!
We would like to thank the parents and families of the FS2 children for supporting us at our Autumn assembly. We videoed part of our rehearsal and thought you might enjoy watching it. Numbers are all around us! The children walked around our school indoors and out, to see how many numbers they could find. Their enthusiasm was amazing!
