We had a special visitor in FS2 today who talked to us about birds. We discovered lots of facts about record breaking birds.
Did you know these facts? The smallest bird in the world is the hummingbird. The bird with the longest wingspan is the albatross. The largest bird in the world is the ostrich. Wren's nest together and this is monitored by bird watching groups. In one small nesting box in this country 63 wrens were found gathered together. We looked at different representations of these facts, so we unfolded the wings of a life-size model of an albatross. We took 63 wrens out of a nesting box and counted them. It was a fabulous morning and the artefacts made it very memorable. The children were full of information and were bursting to tell the other adults around school. We hope they told you at home too!
