We loved children in need day. We had no uniform, Pudsey bear and rockstars! Real variety this year. We raised lots of money for the charity and the children showed concern that some children have problems and are not as lucky as we are.

'As part of anti-bullying week we took part in 'odd sock day'. The children were so proud to show off their socks.
Odd Socks Day' is designed to be fun. It is an opportunity to encourage the children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! We talked to the children about how we are all different and that is what makes us all special. The children created their own poppies to wear on Remembrance Day. They wore them proudly in our assembly and we were very proud of how quiet and respectful they were during the silence.
We were all surprised when we arrived at school this morning and saw our flooded playground. We were so proud of the children who were super sensible about it. It did dominate our topic of conversation for the day! The reflections of our equipment and the trees in the water were beautiful. The children enthusiastically viewed the area from all angles.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to watch our assembly. We aimed for short and sweet, and we hope you agree with that sentiment!
The children were amazing, it is such a big moment for them, getting on the stage and joining in whilst all those eyes are watching them. Their voices weren't as loud as in the rehearsals but they did get louder as they gained more confidence. As I'm sure you could tell, they were really cross with the animals for not helping the little red hen! Our favourite song of all was the 'goodbye song' and I think that showed with their enthusiasm! Thank you again for supporting us. Our next 'event' with be the Nativity at Christmas. We have chosen books by Bill Martin Jr for our story times this week. The children have loved joining in with the repetitive text and predicting which animal will be next. We have voted for our favourite stories and here are a few that scored very highly!
This week our books arrived from bookstart. Mrs Simpson came to FS2 and read the children one of her favourite stories and presented the books. The children were so excited - another book to add to our collections! They couldn't wait to take them home and open them.
Today we took part in a special themed pirate day. The children enjoyed a 'pirate' themed lunch menu and designed their own pirate hat to make it extra special.
At story time we shared our favourite pirate stories. 'Pirates love underpants was our clear favourite!' The children were so excited about the non-uniform day. Our classrooms look so different without the usual 'blue jumpers!' Thank you to all the parents and carers who have provided buns for the 'coffee afternoon', you have been very generous!
In Foundation Stage we love story time. The children love to get settled down and listen to a story. We have at least 2 stories every day, often more. The children have been voting for their favourite stories and are beginning to give reasons for their choices.
These are some of our favourites from this week. |
