On Monday 4th June, year 6 went on a trip to the Butterfly House. This was part of their newly started topic about rain forests. The year 6's did an interesting work shop about some of the creatures that live in the rain forest and we got to hold some of them. The first species was an overly - grown stick insect that was surprisingly well at camouflaging into the tree bark. Next we held a ten-rec that everyone thought was a baby hedgehog but it wasn't. Finally, the 3rd reptile was a baby boa that had really slimy and scaly skin. This is what Mrs Browne ( a year 6 teacher) had to say about the snake. 'I don't like the way snakes move'. 'I am very scared of spiders and creatures that crawl.' The year 6's really enjoyed the trip and are now writing leaflets to persuade others to attend. Also a gigantic butterfly landed on Mrs Mundys back.
By Harriett and Sophie On Wednesday 9th May, year 4 had a Roman day. We all dressed up like Romans {even the teachers} and cooked different Roman food: roman bred, cheese pate, cheese cake and pancakes. The first group cracked a Roman code while other groups looked at Roman objects and answered questions about the Romans. The year 4s made pictures out of small squares . This is called mosaic . Once the food was cooked we got to taste it and my favourite was the cheese cake {it was yummy.} That was year 4s Roman day.
By Rosie On Monday 23rd April 2018 was a thrilling event. Most of the year 3's participated. It was ... Egyptian day! Everyone could dress as an Egyptians, we had fantastic Pharaoh's cool Cleopatra's, mega mummies, terrific tombs and magnificent monks. We went into the huge, large tomb to find out who the Pharaoh was. We found a Cartouche which is a dead Pharaohs name carved in hieroglyphics. The year 3's wrapped some children up into toilet paper so they looked like mummies. The boy Pharaoh was called... Tutankhamen .It was a great day.
By Isobel and Olivia On the 19th of April, the Year 5 and 6 tag rugby team went to Shaw Lane for the Year 5 and 6 tag rugby finals. On the day,we had two teams who went to Shaw Lane .When we got there, it was extremely hot outside so we had to keep checking we were hydrated . We played lots of games and won most , but on the last two games we were beat by Hoylandswaine and we drew against Upperwood. This meant that we came a very respectable 3rd place ,narrowly missing out on the the semi finals by a difference of two tries.
By Finlay (Year 6) On the 16th and 17th April 2018 as we were hard at work, some of our younger members of school were on a mind-blowing school trip to Ledston Estate. They did a lot of cool activities including: collecting leaves, twigs and beach nuts, making dens out of twigs and leaves and also collected animals from the amazing story The Gruffalo. All of the foundation year came back with smiles the size of an elephant. They used this trip to inspire their topic of planting.
By Oliver (Year 5) Hello and welcome to High View's brand new pupil blog and magazine. Here you will be able to read all the latest news from High View. The difference between this blog and some of the others is this investigated, photographed and written by the pupils at High View. They are in charge of it all, including the editing process. These skills will be learnt during a 6 week Golden Time block. Please take the time to read their work as most articles are written in their own time.
At the end of each half term, the children will be selling hard copies of the blog as a 'termly round up'. All proceeds will go towards future activities and treats for the children at High View. Thank you and we hope you enjoy. Miss G |
