Labelling the World!

5/9/2019

As part of our topic Inspirational People; Aspirational Us, we have been looking at Charles Darwin and his voyage on the HMS Beagle. To understand exactly where he went and the climates and biomes he visited, we first needed to make sure we understood the significance of some geographical terms.
Longitude, Latitude, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, Equator, Tropic of Capricorn and Cancer and the Arctic and Antarctic Circle.
We can now pinpoint on his journey - where in the world he was, as well as understanding the climates he will have travelled through and what the biomes he visited would have been like.

As a test our teachers gave us a balloon (blowing them up and tying them was harder than expected) and we had to label the different parts of the globe. We had a good time and proved we knew and understood this vocabulary.
