Using the wonderful braining camp, we have been comparing fractions. It has helped us see which fractions are bigger or smaller and when the are the same. We soon realised there was a problem. If we were give a fraction that was not on braining camp such as 3/7 we could not use it.
So we learnt how to compare fractions using butterflies.
First we found the common denominator, then we converted the numerators., before comparing them.
We realised that we can apply this when we are adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators.
