Ancient Egypt took over Year 3 today! We dropped right into Ancient Egyptian times. A new tomb had been discovered and we spent the day gathering clues to help us investigate who the tomb belonged to.
We learned that tombs like this one were only for the rich and famous and that the body within the tomb had been mummified. To help us get a clearer idea we even mummified Miss Pinches, removing her organs and placing them in the canopic jars. Then we had a go at wrapping each other up like mummies.
We also had to crack the hieroglyphic code to discover more about whose tomb it was.
This message reads "Lies here the body of a boy king".
To properly honour this important leader we created chants and rhythms to include in a burial ceremony.
At the end of the day we discovered a cartouche which held the name of the owner of the tomb.
Can you guess whose tomb it was?
No teachers were harmed in the learning that took place today!
