In Georgraphy we have been learning about how Volcanoes are formed and the process they go through before they erupt.
As part of our art this half term we worked on sculpture to create a mold for our volcanoes using scrunched up newspaper built around a milk bottle. We then covered our sculpture bases in modrock to create a firmer, watertight layer. It was a very messy job but we were all very proud of our creations.
Once we had created our volcanoes we painted them, paying close attention to the textures and colours that we were using to create a realistic volcanoe.
Finally, to replicate the pressure that builds up inside a volcano and the eruption we used vinegar, bicarbonate of soda and of course food colouring to make our eruptions more realistic!
