Welcome to our new Year 2 blog for the new academic year!
We've come to the end of our first full week back at school for September and what a week it's been! The children have been fantastic and despite the changes of year group, they've settled well and have all worked so hard.
We've started our new topic - Hopes & Dreams, where we are going to learn all about "people that help us". We shared a story about Marie Curie, her hopes and dreams as a little girl and how she made her dreams come true and is now so widely well known and the charity is named after her. Her famous quote "We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves" is one we've discussed with the children. We've asked the children to think about their hopes and dreams for year 2 and have began to talk about when they are older. We have so many more exciting things planned in and we are sure the children will share it all with you. Our topic work is coming through into our literacy and we have had a go at writing letters and are understanding the importance of sentences and what a good sentence needs.
In maths we have started Place Value and are looking at how numbers are represented in different ways which led us on to talking about number bonds to 10 and how these can help the children by having quick recollection of them.
We are so proud of the children for settling in and adjusting to the busy routines of year 2 :-).
