Today we planned a little surprise for the children...and it definitely was that!
We had visitors from Wigfield Farm who brought with them a host of "special visitors" and lots of interesting things for the children to look at. Part of our science curriculum is for the children to "know what animals including humans need to survive" as well as "being aware of animals and their offspring".
The children met Terry the tortoise, Bernice the bearded dragon, Sally the snake and even met a giant African Land Snake. I wonder if they can remember which one of them was a carnivore? I am sure they'll be able to tell you. They even talked about whether they were herbivore, carnivore or an omnivore! Which one are you?
They learnt how different animals shed their skins and had the chance to see some snake skins and even the skin of a Tarantula . Some of them were so brave as they thought it was real being past around. Thankfully the real one, was in its cage on the table!
Bernice impressed them with how she ate the meal worms, have a look at this video.
We took lots of photographs, as the children thoroughly enjoyed every moment so a photo overload for you all to enjoy. The opportunities to learn so much about some animals, stroke them and learn interesting facts was fantastic. What a great morning!
