We have had a fabulous first, full week in Year 2. All the children are doing us proud and working exceptionally hard and adjusting to the new routines. Well done to you all.
Spelling books have started to go home, so just a reminder they will be tested weekly for their knowledge on spellings. Please practice them at home. We will begin to send phonic reading books and records this week.

Welcome to Year 2. Attached is a power point of information for what we need to share with you regarding your child's journey in Year 2 as we can now not hold the welcome meetings due to the current guidelines. If you have any queries, please contact us.
What a wet and horrible week it has been for the weather! On the plus side, what a great week on our Seesaw. Again I am so proud of all the work you are producing although there are a few of you, who I would love to hear from, whether this be on Seesaw or Dojo, as I know lots of you are learning at home using packs I have made for you or evens books your families have got for you. You are all fabulous, keep working hard. Special Mentions this week; 2SO Grace W consistently working hard on Seesaw and at home. Freddy-James great effort in his home learning tasks. 2IC Benjamin - fantastic work produced on Seesaw all the time. Tillie-Jo - great home learning activities produced. However a huge well done to you all! I have now caught up on all owed dojos and added some extra as a treat to say well done :-). As we enter week 3 of our Summer term, I wanted to say again how much I miss you all. I have received some lovely cards and letters from you and it really does make me smile. I cannot wait to see you all. Next week we have a new story of the week which will be uploaded on Monday for you. As well as this, each day I will upload 4/5 activities - 3 of which will be RWI, Literacy and Maths. You can use Purple Mash and TTR whenever you want to, remember Purple Mash has so many things on there. I know some of you feel a little overwhelmed when there are too many activities sat in the box, so the new ones appear each day but they will not be archived (removed for at least 7 days), this allows time for others to do them if they haven't been on. I have picked out some lovely pictures from this week for you to enjoy just like I did, as well as a video that really did make me laugh when you listen to the poem being read. Well done all of you. See you soon x Wow, what a week! It's so lovely to see lots of you posting your work on Seesaw and completing the activities. I love seeing what you all get up to, listening to your voices, seeing your smiling faces and reading your fantastic activities you submit. So thank you to each and everyone of you! I know lots of you are also working at home with packs I have provided or books parents have bought and again this is fabulous. I am so proud of every member of my Year 2 family and I cannot wait until we are all back together.
I have attached some photos of some work so you can have a look and be proud of yourselves. Special Mentions; Elsie and Elise - superstars singing in the Young Voices International Choir. Wow - you were amazing. This song means so much to school, the words are so powerful. Well done. Abbie and Charlie - excellent attitudes to their home learning, submitting great pieces and showing great pride. Well done you two. What next? The news is changing every day and I honestly don't know what will happen next or when we will be back together. I am back in school now with a bubble of children BUT I do miss you all lots. Mrs Lumb, Miss S Smith and Miss Wordsworth are checking on your Seesaw throughout the day and I am checking in along with Mrs Harding when we can and this will continue next week. Keep working hard, enjoy making memories and stay safe. xxx One activity that was set this week was for the children to make a musical instrument using recyled materials from home. You have absolutely blown me away with the effort that has gone into these. It truly was wonderful to see your creations through pictures and videos and it would be a shame to not shame them with you all so here goes.
Wow, what can I say as we sit on week 5 of our lockdown. It is so fantastic to see your wonderful hard work on Seesaw, seeing your lovely faces and photographs and watching any videos you upload. Our aim is that all of our children are accessing the app to help support everyone through these times. At the moment there are still a few who aren't signed up or who have not accessed, please do contact us if we can support or help in anyway.
Work is being assigned daily at the moment as I don't want to overwhelm the children by posting too much on there at the moment nor do I want them to attempt everything in one go. From the start we have stressed the importance of little and often. Your work this week, as always is incredible so below are some snippets of just how fabulous you really are. Miss you all lots. Wow, just wow! What a week is has been with all of you and our launch of our new learning app. There have been a few ups and downs due to technology, internet, us all learning but I think we have overcome this now and we've had a great week with some fantastic learning. Around 2/3 of our year group have now accessed the app and I have seen some great learning from you all. I am hoping that by next week nearly all of our year group are up and running. For every piece of work you all upload, you will be rewarded dojo's so I have now reset the bubbles. Each week we are also choosing "Special Mentions". This week we have chosen; Freddy-James - for excellent story telling. Elise - for great phonics work. Abbie for great writing. Charlie for excellent phonics. But I do want to say to all of you who have uploaded - well done and I am so proud of you all. Keep up the hard work. Below are a few photos of what everyone has been up to! I wanted to introduce you to Mrs Harding who is now working at High View and is the teacher who has taken over from Miss Taylor whilst Mrs Clow is on maternity leave. Sadly she didn’t get to come into meet you all and we find ourselves in these unprecedented time. Hopefully we will get to all be back together soon and Mrs Harding will get to meet you all properly. I am going to be talking to Mrs Harding tomorrow and will be getting her onto our Seesaw app. Here’s a little video she’s made for you all.
, Hello everyone,
It seems that we are going to be locked down for even longer and no one is yet sure when we can all be back together so as a school we have decided to launch a new app - Seesaw. I have sent out passwords to all of 2SO and 2IC so you all have your own individual passwords and your parents also have had a code to connect to your online journals. Seesaw will allow me to set you work daily during the school weeks and you then save that work and send it back to me so I can see all of the fantastic work you are creating. I know some of you have already logged on and completed the few activities I left for you to try out and get used to. Each day new activities will be assigned at 9 a.m. Each day you will have a maths, RWI phonics, Literacy and a topic based activity. I am so excited that I will be able to see all your work and talk to you about it on here. Some of the activities have voice instructions so have a listen and it will be just like sat in our lovely classrooms :-). This week's story is one of my top 5 - The Tiger Who Came to Tea so there is a weekly menu with activities on this which you will be able to see. Lots of fun, exciting activities to try out :-). If you have any problems just let me know and I will do all I can to support you. I hope we have another wonderful week of sunshine, I am in school this week so we will also be doing the activities. One final thing is from this week I will also be choosing 2 children from each class for a Special Mention; so keep working hard! Miss you all, for now stay safe. Love Mrs O. x P.S - here are a few pictures I have received this week. It's so lovely to see so keep sending them via dojo or adding now to your journals, just like Ava, Ben and Jacob did. As we approach the end of week two of the lockdown, all I can say is I miss you all. Its been a strange couple of weeks. There are still some staff in school and we are taking it in turns to be there and those who aren't are working from home and keeping safe. Today would have been the day we all broke up for Easter although now, school is staying open and some of us are in and some of us are having the holiday and then swapping around. Given this there will be no set home learning for next week but over the weekend some Easter ideas, crafts and activities will be put up to keep you entertained if you need them.
Please do try to enjoy some downtime and have some holiday. Hopefully the weather will be nice and you can enjoy the garden for some fresh air and exercise. Thank you so much for all the wonderful messages and photos I have received this week and please do keep them coming. It's been so lovely to see and share these with everyone. It certainly does make me smile. Keep safe, look after each other, stay safe. Lots of Love Mrs O xxx |
