Wow, what a week we have had.    From place value, to  sentences and questions in Literacy, to Florence Nightingale and exciting PE lessons, we have had such a busy week!

We are so proud of how well the children are settling in and trying so hard in everything they do!   This week, the children in both classes are working so hard to get on the "shining star", its fabulous to see them all working so hard.  Keep it up :-).

We've talked so much about Florence Nightingale and how she reminds us of Marie Curie, as she also wanted to make a difference when she grew up.  Ask them why she is known as "The Lady of the Lamp".  We are sure the  children can tell you all about her.

The children would benefit from continuing to have opportunities to count in 2's, 5's and 10's.    This helps them greatly to increase in confidence and be able to do this with speed.

In our maths,  we have continued to work on Place Value, and the different ways in which numbers can be made  - 26 = 2 tens and 6 ones or as 10 and 16.   This  will lead us into next week with place value charts and number sentences.

Literacy has seen us continue to improve our sentence work and learn about 2 new types of sentence - statement and question.  The children loved making up questions to ask Florence Nightingale as well as questions about experiences/trips to the doctors or hospital.  Then answering them in full statements.    Next week the children will be able to show off what they have learnt as we approach our "Hot Write" where the children will showcase what they have learnt within their writing.

Ooh and let's not forget our visit from our  very  own "High View Astronaut"...

Phew, what a week.... next week brings even more excitement!  We can't wait.
