In music we have been looking at the fusion music Afropop. This week we listened to "The click song" by Miriam Makeba a traditional African song and discussed whether we liked it. We also discussed the tempo of the music, the dynamics, the instruments we could hear and the texture of the piece. Lots of children found "The click song" quite funny as it isn't a style of music we are used to hearing! Take a listen below.: We have also been learning the song "In my hands, in my feet, in my heart" which echoes some of the typical styles of Afropop such as call and response and a range of voice types. We split our classes into girls and boys and had a go at recreating the song ourselves. Watch this space for us adding some of our own composition to the song through use of the glockenspiel.
