Check out our children already making progress in Year 6! Amazing work!
In Culture Week, we have been looking at different Creation stories and comparing them. We found some creation stories were very similar which was surprising.
We also had a go at writing our own creation story. Here are some examples; what do you think? What a wonderful morning, linked to our topic Inspirational People: Aspirational Us!
Parents have been in to help us make sculptures of Hominid Primates, Homo Hablis, Homo Erectus, Homo Neanderthalensis and Homo Sapien to conclude our topic. We focused on inspirational people both past and present and we have really enjoyed learning about Charles Darwin and the Theory of Evolution. Take a look at our hard work below! Year Six have been absolute Rock Stars! Not only have nearly the whole year group made progress in ttrockstars but there was also a closely fought battle of the bands. This is where the two classes competed against each other to earn the most points. Both wonderful classes scored nearly 70000 points making it the highest scoring battle in the school. Check out our amazing children below. Below are the children who contributed the most to Battle of the Bands!
It is the end of our first half term and we have just awarded Pride awards to those pupils that meet all that PRIDE stands for.
Preparation Respect Integrity Determination Excellence Another last! Today was our last Cross Country run as High View! All Year Six joined in the race held at Cannon Hall through to wonderful autumnal leaves. It really is a lovely setting. Exhausted, we finished the 1500m course: up hill and down dale! We all finished in good time and gave it good go! Believe it or not, this week we have been exploring evolution through biscuits!
The children compared different types of biscuits and created a cladogram to display the links between them. We then applied the same method and theory to a group of animals. See the pictures below of our finished cladograms and the features we identified to link them! Today we have been investigating prime numbers. We looked at and discussed a variety of statements and decided if they were always true, sometimes true or never true. Once we made our prediction we then had to prove it. We used factor spiders and our knowledge of times tables to help us. We then had to write a reasoning sentence to explain what we had found. Did you know that all prime numbers - except number 2 - are odd? This week was our final class assembly ! We shared what we had learnt so far this term with the rest of the school and our parents. We also shared our own personal aspirations - check out the video below! |
