Freddie Fit visited the whole school, but we were certain that he liked us the best! The FS children worked so hard. Look at our press-ups!
This week we had a very special visitor, Thomas the tortoise. The children were so thrilled to see him. He was very active! We had a tuff spot ready prepared, lined with newspaper for him to sit in but he was determined to explore the classroom. He climbed out many times and walked around looking at the children. Julia from Nature Safari visited us and brought some of her pets. We were surprised to learn that all the animals live at home with her. She told us lots of information about looking after the animals and about what makes each one special. Some children were keen to hold and stroke the animals, but she taught us a special signal so we could let her know if we were nervous! The children had a big surprise today! A crew of firefighters came to visit in their fire engine. We didn't tell the children in advance in case there was an emergency and they couldn't come, but luckily it was a quiet morning for them! The children were so excited and afterwards said that it was the best day ever! They all got the chance to sit in the fire engine and also to squirt the hose. They also told us lots of information about what to do if we ever see a fire. The children were given a special job to do, they have to check that their house is fitted with smoke detectors and ask their adult to press the button and make sure they are working.
Our topic about the emergency services has now moved onto the RNLI. A member of their education department visited us on Tuesday. Mrs Cameron brought a selection of uniforms to show us along with lots of safety information and rules for us to follow at the seaside. The children were so engrossed listening to her and made us really proud by asking sensible questions and telling her the facts that they already knew.
