Today we used Purple Mash to write codes for our own, personal computer games. We learnt how to make objects repeat actions - both on a timer and forever! We then edited our games to make them personal to us. We can't wait to finish them next week!

Today we had a Viking visitor - Wayland - who came to visit us in school and teach us all about how the Vikings used to live. We had an awesome day experiencing different Viking crafts and activities. We made clay oil burners, made and played a viking game, and trained to be viking warriors with shields and spears! We also got to handle a variety of viking artifacts. Examining the way they were built, the materials that were used and the skill and craftmanship that was required to make the objects. Did you know many words we use today come from words used during viking times? Our favourite part was learning how to make a real fire without using matches (safely of course)! We had a fantastic day and learnt so much - what a fab way to continue our topic this term! We kicked off the week by wearing our odd socks to show how different we all are and to celebrate those differences!
Following from that, we have been busy looking at what respect means to us. What does respect mean? How do we show respect? What does repect look like? From these three questions we spent time thinking about and discussing respect before creating some lovely messages about others; poems, raps or songs; and posters to show how to be respectful. Take a look a some of our work we displayed for our anti-bullying showcase on Friday afternoon (16th): All of year 6 had an amazing time at Crucial Crew on 9th November.
We learnt a lot about how to be responsible and keep safe in the community and online. Did you know the age of criminal responsibility is 10 years old? Children got to take part in a lot of different scenarios: - Mock trial in a Magistrates court - First aid where we learnt how to put someone in the recovery position - Anti-social behaviour - Healthy friendships - Arson - Road safety - Home safety - Bus travel. We all had a fantastic day and learnt lots! Ask us about what we found out! |
