Year 4 have been super active this half term, with coaches from Yorkshire Cricket Club, Wombwell Cricket Club and Barnsley Tennis Club all visiting us. Everyone has worked really hard, developing sporting abilities, really impressed all of the coaches, but most importantly, everyone's had loads of fun! Lots of children have also signed up to All Stars and Dynamos Cricket out of school, following these sessions. Keep active Y4, well done!
This week our guided reading text was a biography from the David Attenborough book. We found out a lot about Sir David Attenborough's life and the amazing influence he has had on generations across the world.
We decided that he would be the perfect person to share information about an endangered animal with the world so we wrote a non-chronological report that he could read out on one of his shows, which would hopefully lead to changes to help the endangered species.
We researched the animal and organised our facts into paragraphs of background information, why the animal was endangered, why it was important that the animal did not become extinct and what could be done to help the animal.
Here are some examples of our completed work ready for Sir David Attenborough!
As part of our High View Cares topic, we have been learning about endangered animals.
We have been reading a book called 'When the Mountains Roared' by Jess Butterworth. The introduction of the book uses great suspense to hook the reader in and we couldn't wait to find out what happened. We used the suspense features in our own writing to write our own version of an introduction to the story.
Can you spot our short sentences, rhetorical questions and use of emotions?
Today was Safer Internet Day! We had great fun taking part in the BBC Live Lesson and completing lots of activities all about staying safe online. Children in school and at home discussed and created 5 Golden Rules which we should all keep to keep ourselves and others safe when using the internet.
To celebrate Children in Need, Mr Crossley devised a 'Joe Wicks' style PE lesson for the whole school. There were different activities set up around the Courts for us to do in groups.
