In our topic and literacy lessons, we have been researching the process of mummification in Ancient Egypt. We are using the information to write a non-chronological report. Our grammar focus is using a range of conjunctions to extend sentences.

Our new science topic in Y4 is electricity. To start off our topic we carried out PAT testing around school, checking various appliances and how they were powered.
Last week the children were given a selection of equipment. We tested our prior knowledge of what the different components were, and learned the names of any we were not sure of. In groups the children were given the task of using the bulb, bulb holders, wires, batteries, battery holders and crocodile clips to make the bulb light. The children used great problem solving and communication skills to make their bulb light up. We now what a circuit is and how to make a simple series circuit! We have been really lucky as we have had a delivery of brand new books to enjoy in class. We all voted for our favourite books/authors and chose our favourite five.
Here are 4MM’s favourite five... Can you spot any authors you know or any books you have read before? Keep an eye out as we will be posting book reviews to let you know what we think of our new books once we have had chance to read them! We have been having great fun so far this term, learning about the Ancient Egyptians; especially Tutankhamen!
