Our science focus for this half term is 'Light and Dark' . We have been learning about light sources and shadows. We have also learned new vocabulary such as 'opaque' and 'translucent'.
This week we have been investigating the size and shape of shadows by using unifix cubes and torches. We made the classroom really dark by closing all of the blinds and turning off the lights and used our torches to make shadows. We investigated how to increase the size of our shadow by making a prediction and tested our hypothesis using the equipment provided. Look at the photographs of our experiment :) In the Stone Age, there were no writing as such. People recorded the world around by carving or painting on stones and cave walls.
We studied different images of prehistoric cave art and looked at what we could see. We saw animals, people and weapons. Then we had a go at recreating some of our own cave art using pencil, crayon and chalk pastels. This week in PE we have been learning ball control skills.
We played a game where we had to protect our ball from being taken or we would lose a point. If we manages to dribble the ball to the net and score, we got a point for scoring. This was a skills-based session focusing on running with the ball and changing direction. We had LOTS of fun! |
Year 3 BlogIn Year 3, we have Miss Williams in 3DW and Mrs McRoy and Miss Myers in 3MM. We have wonderful support staff who help us with our learning every day; they are Miss S Smith and Mrs Lloyd. Archives
