In music this half term, we have been practising our new song: Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. We have worked hard to find the pulse and rhythm in the song. We have also practised singing ready for our performance in our class assembly next week.
This week, we began practising using the glockenspiels. We cannot wait to perform for school and our parents!
This week, we have continued experimenting with different painting techniques in art. We mixed our primary colours with PVA glue to investigate using thickened paint, before mixing the same colours with sand to produce textured paint. We had great fun seeing the different effects we could make with these paints.
We have also been investigating in science this week as Smyths Toy Store write to us asking for our help! They asked us to experiment with different magnets and conclude which is the strongest type of magnet for a new toy they are designing. We thought carefully about which variables we would have to change and which ones we would need to keep the same to ensure our investigation was fair. The number of paperclips each magnet attracted was carefully counted and recorded in a tally chart. Finally, we presented our findings in a bar chart and concluded which magnet was strongest.
This half term, Barnsley Football Club will be coming in to school to work with Key Stage 2 children. 3SH will have an active numeracy lesson every Tuesday afternoon and 3WC will have an active Literacy lesson. 3WC have been busy designing their own games, writing rules and creating advertisements in Literacy. Meanwhile, 3SH have used different shapes to design badges for a club they are designing.
This week, in year 3, we have been investigating the different colours that we can make by mixing the three primary colours; red, yellow and blue. We will be developing this knowledge and experimenting with paints over the next few weeks to design and make our very own Mayan murals! We had great fun!
