This afternoon, our fabulous Year 2's have taken part in Race for Life. Wearing their back signs with pride, in support of others who are no longer with us or who have been affected. They completed 4 laps of our school field and were fantastic! Well done to them. Any sponsorship money needs to be paid into school by Friday 12th July at the latest. Many thanks for your continued support for such a worthy cause close to many of our hearts.x

What a fabulous day we have all had at Cleethorpes! We have been on a sea creature hunt, compared the local architecture to what we're used to at home and spent time investigating the building properties of sand. A brilliant day topped off with an ice cream of course. What a busy week we have had for sport and fitness week! We enjoyed our visit from Freddie Fit on Monday and really got into his groovy moves and fun games. On Thursday we all tried our hardest at our sports day and enjoyed taking part in the running, skipping, hurdle and obstacle race.
Super work this week Year 2! Keep fit and stay active! This week we have been looking at finding the difference between two amounts of money. We have been using number lines to help us and have been using toys to help us work out the answer by getting them to jump up the line for us. Our maths books just weren't big enough to house our bouncing number lines so we resorted to using the tables like giant whiteboards to help us! This week we have really started to get our teeth into our latest piece of writing. We will be writing our own version of the Julia Donaldson story "What the ladybird heard". To really help us get the sequence of the story in order we created a re-enactment of the story, trying to draw emphasis to the repetitive elements of the story. When we were reading the story we also spotted rhyme and expanded noun phrases. This morning we had another fabulous Parent Workshop where many of you came to support your children in our latest workshop for our new topic. With nothing but a series of materials, some added twigs and leaves you came up with some fab designs and used your creativity to make some "cracking" bug hotels! These will be home to the children's imaginative bugs that they are going to design ready for our stories :-) .You’ll see some very excited Year 2 children! We had a fantastic time today exploring our topic “The Secret Life of Bugs”. We built dens for our teddies and thought about how our dens could be suitable habitats, we did some fantastic observational drawing and we went on a bug hunt. We found a whole host of creepy crawlies and have already started to think about which mini-beast we will use as inspiration for our characters in our stories. Whilst we were in the woods, we even managed to fit in some call and response songs and enjoyed listening to our voices echoing around the trees. What a fantastic day and we managed to escape the rain too! Fabulous work Year 2. Well done! |
