This week we have been learning about measure. We discovered that when measuring weight we can use weighing scales and a range of different units such as grams or kilograms. We tested out our measuring knowledge by baking some delicious buns, measuring all the ingredients ourselves, to sell at our bake sale tomorrow. Our bake sale is in aid of raising money for an exciting workshop in the new half term.

We have really got stuck into our new topic this week and began to think about toys and where it all began. Do you know how long toys have been around? Do you think they had toys in the war? Ask your children to tell you about what they have learnt so far.
We talked about the different kinds of toys there are and within a few minutes we had a long list. We set the children a challenge to name as many toys as they can. We can't wait to see how many they come up with! Many examples of toys led to debates about whether they were toys; stickers were a really interesting example and led to a good discussion. Whatever the toy...one main thing we could spot is how they have changed through time - ever changing technology of materials. We cannot wait to learn more. In just a week the children have done amazingly! Many of them had more than one part, they went home, learnt their words, practised hard in school - remembered their lines without their words, did a fab Zumba and sang lovely. We are so, so proud of them for producing such an outstanding assembly. We hope you are as proud as we are, they are a credit to you. So it seems the children's toys just couldn't resist getting up to mischief in High View. These are some of the clips we snipped from the security cameras. You can imagine the children's faces when they saw what the toys had been up to! What a great writing hook for our literacy work! :-) This week the children were invited to bring in their favourite toys to school. They had a fantastic time showing them off and playing together with their friends. Some great imaginary play was observed together with fantastic sharing. Their toys had such a fantastic times being here playing that we decided to let them have a sleepover. Watch this space for the adventures!
