In our shared area, we are developing our role play area into a weather station. While we are looking closely at the seasonal changes happening at the moment, we are also looking closely at the weather and how this changes throughout the year. Be sure to watch the weather reports on the TV, so that you can act out the role in school.

Following on from our walk to Wombwell woods, we transformed into nature detective’s and examined closely what we had found. We also practiced the art skill of rubbing using oil pastels to identify the fine details of the leaves to find out more about them. This week we have visited Wombwell woods. Here we have observed the seasonal changes that are upon us, taking a closer look at what is living, growing and changing right where we live. We saw some fantastic signs of Autumn, and enjoyed our walk through our local streets. The children were so excited! Welcome to all our new Year 1 parents, family and children. It has been a successful, first week back and the children are settling into their new classes and routines. We are so proud of them.
Please check our blog regularly for weekly updates of what we are learning about. Next week we have our walk to the woods, so watch this space for photos :-). In our first week back at school, we dived straight in by making Gingerbread. The children used this to help them with their first piece of writing for Y1. The gingerbread was delicious and the children’s writing was amazing! Well done Y1. |
