Thank you to all children and staff who worked so tireless in preparation for the anti-bullying exhibition today. The hall was full of examples of the childrens' brilliant work.
Thank you also to parents who took the time to come and celebrate the children's achievements - it was wonderful to see you! How can our words make others feel? In Year 5 we thought about how our words and facial expressions can make other people feel. We organised the feelings into both positive and negative groups. We then thought of real life examples of what we might say in a variety of situations and what emotional outcome this could cause. Our paper chains are organised into emotions, colour coded in line with the Inside Out characters.Last Friday children from Year 2 and Year 5 walked down to Wombwell cemetery to take part in a Remembrance Service. While they were there, they explored the cemetery and learned to tell the difference between a war memorial and a war grave. Everyone found it extremely interesting and although sometimes children were sad to see men had passed away so young, it also enabled them to begin to understand the sacrifice they made. Everyone who took part was credit to the school and showed outstanding behaviour throughout the visit. The year 5 children were fantastic role models for the year 2s and helped keep them safe and explained different things during the walk around the cemetery. It was also fantastic to see so many parents and other adults from around Wombwell who gave their time to take part in the service with our pupils. Children from each class made their own poppy wreath to lay as a sign of respect and to remember those who had passed away. Can you remember what the colours of the poppy stand for? On Tuesday 13th September, year 5 developed their theatrical skills during a BFG workshop delivered by a professional actor and director! The children had so much fun learning new tips and tricks from the acting world, developing their expression, body language and confidence in front of a live audience!
