School Council 2016/2017

School Council worked hard hosting class councils, writing letters and inviting members of staff to meetings to push for both jam sandwiches to be an option for grab-a-bags and squash drinks to be available at lunch times. Unfortunately, even with such persuasive and convincing arguments these notions didn't get passed. It was a good learning experience - not only to learn about what is means to be a healthy school but also to realise that not all of their ideas will happen.

Monthly water bottle counts were a regular responsibility of school council. The children had the responsibility of ensuring that their class had water bottles to ensure that they were keeping hydrated throughout each school day.

School Council investigated how often the 'Friendship Bench' was used and whether all children in school knew about it and what its purpose is. They found out that many of the younger children in school weren't aware of its use. They came up with the brilliant idea of relaunching the 'Friendship Bench' by painting it in bright colours. School Council voted for the colours to be used.

School Council also dedicated a lot of time towards suggesting changes to the behaviour system used in school. Currently traffic lights are used and the children discussed new behaviour system displaying children for positive behaviour, not just negative. After many class councils discussing ideas, a final idea was submitted to Miss Smith, which will hopefully get implemented this new school year!
